NAKFI Ecosystem Services Conference Participant Publishes Paper in Bioscience

NAKFI Ecosystem Services Conference Attendee, David A. Mortensen (Penn State University) recently published the paper, Navigating a Critical Juncture for Sustainable Weed Management, in the January issue of BioScience. Dr. Mortensen is a Professor of Weed and Applied Plant Ecology at Penn State University. Additionally, he serves as the USDA AFRI panel chair of the Weedy and Invasive Organisms national competitive grants program.

Dr. David A Mortensen and his colleagues published a paper titled Nagivating a Critical Juncture for Sustainable Weed Management in BioScience.  The paper argues there a number of important ecosystem services that will be compromised if we continue down the 'transgene facilitated herbicide treadmill' path.  Dr. Mortensen shared with us that the paper generated a great deal of public sector interest.  To access the article please click here or copy and paste the following URL into your broswer http://www.jstor.org/pss/10.1525/bio.2012.62.1.12.

Dr. Mortensen’s research addresses applied plant ecology questions using the latest in empirical methods and mathematical models.  To learn more about Dr. Mortensen please visit his lab’s website: http://weedecology.psu.edu/weindex.cfm
