The Informed Brain in a Digital World Grants: On May 9, 2013, the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative (NAKFI) announced the recipients of its 2012 Futures Grants.  $1 Million for 12 research projects was awarded -- projects selected range from developing a 'Virtual Physician App' to Uncovering the DNA of Social Knowledge.

Ecosystem Services Grants
: The National Academies Keck Futures Initiative (NAKFI) awarded  $1.25 million for 12 research projects on ecosystem services.  Projects selected range from developing an interactive video game that will improve understanding and valuation of ecosystem services to assessing the feasibility of using roadway buffer strips to produce energy crops sustainably while providing ecosystem services such as habitat establishment, water resource protection, and greenhouse gas mitigation.

Imaging Science Grants: The National Academies Keck Futures Initiative announced today the recipients of its latest round of Futures grants, each awarded to support interdisciplinary research on imaging science. The 13 projects chosen represent a variety of approaches to such research, which was the subject of the eighth annual Futures conference.

Synthethic Biology Grants: The National Academies Keck Futures Initiative (NAKFI) announced this week the recipients of its latest round of Futures grants, awarded to support interdisciplinary research. The 13 projects chosen represent a wide range of approaches to research in synthetic biology, which was the subject of the seventh annual Futures conference. 

Complex Systems Grants
: On May 7, 2009, the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative announced the recipients of its 2008 Futures grants, each awarded to support interdisciplinary research on complex system such as ecosystems, financial markets, communication networks, and biology.  The 23 projects chosen represent a wide range of approaches to such research, which was the subject of the sixth annual Futures conference. 

Healthspan Grants: On May 9, 2008, the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative announced the recipients of its 2007 Futures grants, each award to support interdisciplinary research on healthspan and aging.  The 15 projects chosen represent a wide range of approaches to such research which was the subject of the fifth annual Futures conference, "The Future of Human Healthspan: Demography, Evolution, Medicine, and Bioengineering," held last November in Irvine, Calif. 

Smart Prosthetics Grants: On April 10, 2007, the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative announced the recipients of its 2006 Futures grants, each in the amount of up to $75,000 to support interdisciplinary research on smart prosthetics. The 16 projects that were awarded funding represent a wide range of approaches to research on such assistive devices, which was the subject of the fourth Futures conference, "Smart Prosthetics: Exploring Assistive Devices for the Body and Mind," held last November in Irvine, Calif.  

Genomics Grants:  On April 10, 2006, the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative announced the recipients of its 2005 Futures grants, each in the amount of $50,000 or $75,000 to support interdisciplinary research on genomics and infectious disease. The 14 research projects that were awarded funding represent a wide range of approaches to the field, which was the subject of the third Futures conference, "The Genomic Revolution: Implications for Treatment and Control of Infectious Disease," held last November in Irvine, Calif.

Nanostructures Grants: On April 13, 2005, the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative announced the 14 recipients of its Futures grants, each in the amount of $50,000 or $75,000, to support interdisciplinary research on nanoscience and nanotechnology. 

Signaling Grants: On April 14, 2004, the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative announced the 11 recipients of the first Futures grants, each in the amount of $75,000, to support interdisciplinary research on signaling.
